If possible, I recommend you buy Viticulture Essential Edition (Stonemaier Games Viticulture Essential Edition Board Game) to begin with. I didn't realize there was an essential edition until after I got my copy. So, I was very glad to be able to bring my older edition up to date with this relatively inexpensive expansion. It includes some mini-expansions from the Tuscany Expansion (Tuscany Essential Edition Board Game): (1) Mama and Papa cards, (2) a bunch of summer and winter visitor cards -- including some updates for existing cards, (3) the field cards, and (4) the automa cards so you can play the game solo. I can't imagine playing the game without the Mama and Papa cards or the extra visitor cards at this point, so it was definitely worth it for those alone.This is not necessary if you already have the essential edition or the Tuscany expansion.
